      LIVING: 1141. (Evans, British Genealogist, book 6 p. F20)

      DEATH: 1139/1140.

REMARKS: In 1136 he took part with Owain and Cadwaladr, the sons of Gruffudd ap Cynan, in their victorious attack upon the Normans in Cardiganshire, in which the latter were defeated and their encroachments checked. (Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog, vol. 2 p. 300)
REMARKS: In Wales till the middle of the 12th century individuals were styled 'Brenin' meaning chief or high one, and 'Arglwydd' meaning lord or master.

(Research) KINSHIP: Investigate> Lloyd's 'History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog' volume 2 page 301 gives him a son named Rhys and a daughter named Elen who supposedly married Adda ap Gruffudd ap Madog. The daughter Elen is probably an error because of generational problems.

(Research) KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Evans' 'British Genealogist' book 8 page H28 omits this generation from the name string.
(Research) KINSHIP: Investigate> Evans' 'British Genealogist' book 6 page F55 makes Gwenllian ferch Rhys the mother of his children, but Rhanullt ferch Gruffudd is not mentioned.
(Research) KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Evans' 'British Genealogist' book 6 page F55 gives him additional sons named Adda, but he is the son of Madog ap Maredudd, and Robert who daughter Annes married Gruffudd "Foel" ab Ifor ap Cydifor, but his seems to be a mistake for the entry on the left side of the page where Gruffudd "Foel" ap Madog is married to Jonet ferch Ifor Cydifor.
(Research) KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Dwnn's 'Heraldic Visitations of Wales' volume 2 page 22 omits this generation from the name string.
(Research) MARRIAGE: Conflict/Error> Evans' 'British Genealogist' book 7 page G20 states he married Jane ferch of Rhys "Gryg".
