LIVING: 1111, Owain accepted the king's peace and went to court where he was made a knight. He then accompanied the king to Normandy, and in 1112 he returned to Wales. (Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog, vol. 1 p. 103, 104)

REMARKS: In 1107 His father held a feast and invited the chieftains of all Wales. It was at this feast the he saw Nest ferch Rhys, wife of Gerald, seneschal of the Castle of Pembroke and fell in love with her. With help from companions he entered the castle of Pembroke and carried off Nest by violence and against her will. He refused to return her to her husband and Henry (of England) turned the chieftains against Owain, who in turned expelled him from the country, and likewise expelleed his father Cadwgon, and they were forced to flee to Ireland. He returned in 1108, but was unable to make peace with Henry (of England), but reconciled with his cousin Madog ap Rhirid ap Bleddyn. They then ravaged the country against the advice of family and friends. (Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog, vol. 5 p. 50)
REMARKS: In 1111 Henry (King of England) trying to make peace with Owain, sent him to Ireland to captured Madog ap Rhirid and his men for the killing of Iorwerth ap Bleddyn. But Madog in turn killed Owain's father Cadwgon at Welshpool. (Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog, vol. 5 p. 51)
REMARKS: After the death of his father, Owain went to King Henry and purchased his land and territory for hundred pounds in oxen and horses. (Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog, vol. 5 p. 51, 52)
REMARKS: In 1110 Maredudd ap Bleddyn seized Madog ap Rhirid and gave him to Owain, who pulled out his eyes and then set him at liberty and Maredudd and Owain shared his territory between them. (Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog, vol. 5 p. 52)
REMARKS: Around 1110 Owain was still ravaging the lands around him without remorse and Gruffudd ap Cynan tried to regain his lands from Hugh, Earl of Chester. Henry sent an army into Powys, which failed miserably. Owain then accepted peace from Henry and being made a knight accompanied Henry into Normandy. REMARKS: In 1114 Owain went at the request of King Henry against Gruffudd ap Rhys of South Wales. Gerald, senseschal of the Castle of Pembroke, remembering what Owain had done to his wife Nest ferch Rhys, he meditated revenge and marched with the army of Gruffudd ap Rhys against Owain.
