  KINSHIP: Second son of Owain "Gwynedd" second wife. TITLES: Accession> to West Gwynedd in 1175. (Fryde, Handbook of British Chronology, p. 51) LIVING: 1176-1188. PROPERTY: Lord of Anglesey. (Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog, vol. 4 p. 267) PROPERTY: Lord of Môn. (Evans, British Genealogist, book 5 p. E64) PUNISHMENT: He was imprisoned by his brother, the usurper Dafydd, "because he desired his portion of the inheritance". Breaking his brother's prison, he entered the Isle of Anglesey as sovereign lord. REMARKS: The term King can be misleading. In Wales till the middle of the 12th century individuals were styled 'Brenin' meaning chief or high one, and 'Arglwydd' meaning lord or master.
