      REMARKS: "We are told that Gruffydd Gethin was Gentleman Usher to King John; that he bore a strong bow in England and shot with a broad arrow, and that on the monarch observing him shoot he exclaimed 'Well done Gruffydd,' ever after which he was called Gruffydd Dwnn." (Dwnn, Heraldic Visitations of Wales, vol. 1 p. xxvi)
    • (Research):KINSHIP: Conflict/Error> Dwnn's 'Heraldic Visitations of Wales' volume 1 page 26 contains several error on the name string from here back.
      OFFICE: Conflict/Error> Evan's 'British Genealogist' book 1 page 259 calls him "Gentleman Usher to King John, 1199-1216. He obtained the agnomen Dwnn from the remark "Well done, Griffith" uttered by King John as he observed him shoot with a strong bow and broad arrow." The time frame is wrong.
