  LIVING: He was a child when his father died. LIVING: He was ordered to restore the castle of Caerleon to Richard Marshall, Earl of Pembroke, "lands which he had taken, together with the booty". This was done by a deed dated 11 Apr 1235 and confirmed by Henry III. He later in the year 1235 joined with Llywelyn and attacked the castle and burnt it to the ground. (Bradney, History of Monmouthshire, vol. 3 p. 189) PROPERTY: a grant, real or fictitious, of the Castle of Caerllion, from Morgan to William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke, was confirmed by the King in 1228 and again to Gilbert Marshall, 1235. PROPERTY: In 1223 the custody of Dymoke Castle in Gloucestershire, was committed to Morgan. PROPERTY: In 1236 it was expressly stipulated that Gilbert Marshall should restore all Morgan's property, but this was not done. PROPERTY: At his death he held only the commotes of Edeligion and Llebeydd, and a manor called "Mamhilad Morgan". This was all that was left of his once extensive lands. INQUISITION POST MORTUM: 28 Feb 1249. (Bradney, History of Monmouthshire, vol. 3 p. 189) (Research) KINSHIP: Investigate> Bradney's 'History of Monmouthshire' volume 3 pages 190 and 191 show the IPM for Morgan, in both Latin and English. It states his father was Owain ab Iorwerth, not Hywel "Caerllion". "And they say that Meredydd ap Gruffydd is the next heir of the said Morgan if he can prove that he is legitimate. And the said Jurors understand that he is not legitimate. Concerning the age of the said Meredydd, they say that he is 14 years old, and if the said Meredydd is not the heir of the said Morgan, they say that the four daughters of Iorwerth ap Owen, of whom two are living, nameley Nest and Amable, and two are dead, namely Gwladys and Angharad, are the next heirs. After the death of Gwladys her son and heir is Rhys the son of Gruffydd. After the death of Angharad her son and heir is Gruffydd the son of Dyfnwal, and for this reason, because the said women were sisters of Owen ap Iorwerth, the father of the said Morgan."
