    • Joy was an apparent healthy girl. Graduated from Augustana College. Worked as a water aerobics instructor. Taught water Aerobics. First job in Aquatic Center in Waterford, Mi. Terrific mother of 3 children.
On day of her death, she had worked at Citi Bank , picked up her children, drove home. Before she left work she called her Mom at 4:30 said she was not feeling well. Said all had had flu like symptoms the week before. Arrived home with children in tow.
Arriving home she called Chris and asked him to come home, as she was feeling quite ill. She didn't want to be alone with the little ones.
He came home, found her unresponsive in a chair, nursing baby Josie. Lea and Samuel playing in another room.
He called 911, they told him to do CPR , & they were on the way. They worked on her for some time,
called in a helicopter, it was too late, she had passed away.
Everyone will remember her hearty laugh when she and Colleen would get together. How much she loved those children. They were her pride and her joy.
She had the gift of knowing how to wear clothes, everything must match! Loved shoes and jeans. Such pretty hands and nails.
She was so happy in their newly built home. Proud of what she and Chris had accomplished.
I know she is in heaven and watching Chris and the kiddles every step of the way. How could he manage without her guidance?
Our last time with Joy was July 4th at the campsite in the park at Garretson. Fried steaks, Mary Jane made red, white and blue dessert. We all boarded a pontoon and rode around the lake, watched the 'brave' young guys jump off the high cliffs into the water. Lea got sleepy, Joy handed baby Josie to MJ and Joy held Lea to go to sleep. Samuel was the 'hit' of the crew on the boat. The skipper of the boat always asked 'Sam' the questions. First he was shy, then he got into it and had fun.
I asked Samuel if he had moved to the tent? He grinned and knew I was just silly. He played catch with Jim, John and his Dad. Josie took a nap in the tent by herself. Lea was awake all the time until the ride on the pontoon.
