  • Notes
    • According to "Mendon and Albeeville, Massachusetts," a writing by 70-year-old Marcus M. Aldrich (1834-1914) written in 1904, Simeon was noted for his temper and for being outspoken. Aldrich cites an example: "It was at the schoolhouse that the m members of the District gathered together to transact their public business, and often times there was great excitement at these meetings when forceful, if not violent language would be used. It is remembered that Mr. Simeon Wheelock at one time became greatly enraged because of some proposal he didn't agree with and that after listening to his fiery tirade for awhile, Lovell Howard became frightened and made quick-step time for home; and on inquiry of a neighbor whom he had chanced to meet as to his great hurry, Lovell replied that Sim Wheelock was up at the school meeting, madder than H and D and somebody would get hurt. "

Also mentioned by Marcus Aldrich was the fact that Simeon had a second wife, after Catherine Croney. By this second wife, whom he doesn't name, he had the following children: Mercy, Fanny, and Ellen.

Apparently, Alanson Freeman, who married Simeon and Catherine's daughter Caroline, was a neighbor of the Wheelocks.
