- May be the same John Kunkle who, in 1869, purchased two tracts of land in the Amberson Valley from Samuel Piper. One of these was a 125 acre tract on the west side of Conococheague Creek and the other was a 50 acre tract "probably on the east side of the stream," according to "Conococheague Headwaters of the Amberson Valley," by Harry Foreman (1968).
