| Notes |
- Crawford is mentioned in the obituary of his older brother, Joseph.
In the 1850 census, Crawford, 22, was living in Waukesha County, Wisconsin and working a laborer.
In th 1860 census, Crawford was 30(?) and his wife Mary was 20. Their children were Cassius R., age 6, born in New York; Evaline E., 5, born in Wisconsin; Clara B, 1, born in Wisconsin. Also living with them were Mary's sister Elica Ann Newell, age 23, born in New York and Luella E. Newell, age 10/12, born in Missouri.
In the 1870 census, Crawford, age 41, is living in New Berlin, Wisconsin with wife Mary, 38. Also listed are Ray (probably Cassius, going by his middle name), age 16; Ella, 12 and Austin, 6.
According to the 1880 census, Crawford was living at 149 Madison, Waukesha Village, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Crawford was 50 and working as a carpenter. It appears he was living in a boarding house run by J. J. Valentine, a restaurant employee, age 57, from North Carolina and J. J.'s family. Also living in the house were Robert Tiller, age 24, also working in the restaurant, and Louis Lorans, age 33, a laborer from Belgium.
At the same time, Crawford's wife Mary, age 49, was living in Milwaukee at 288 Hanover Street, apparently, another boarding house. Living with her were her daughter Clara Barber, age 21, as well as Andrew Langworthy, a boarder, age 64, born in New York; Marietta Langworthy, boarder, age 65, and others.
In 1900, Crawford, age 70, was living alone in Waukesha.
